Shiro Abhyanga is a simple treatment with excellent health benefits. It’s a very relaxing treatment and can improve sleep in case of insomnia. If done with suitable oil can prevent early greying of hair, hair fall, and other conditions affecting the hair and scalp. Additionally, head massage is useful for removing accumulated toxins from the scalp by improving the circulation in the scalp, which in turn nourish hair roots and promotes thick, shiny hair.
Mukhabhyanga is useful for improving the complexion and health of the facial skin. Compared to other parts of the body facial skin is more sensitive and need extra care. Face massage with suitable products like Kumkumadi Thaila can impart lots of benefits for Facial skin. A proper face massage can tighten facial skin and reduce signs of ageing like wrinkles, pigmentation and sagging. Face massage can help drain away accumulated toxins from sensitive facial tissue resulting in overall youth and vitality.
Elakizhi is performed with a cloth bag containing specially prepared herbal leaves. This is one of the classical Ayurveda massages for the conditions resulting from Vata aggravation. First the client is anointed with suitable oil and massaged with warm bolus bags on affected parts of the body or the whole body. Various medicinal leaves like Tamarind, Calotropis, Castor, Drum stick, Vietx, Adatoda, Neem, Datura, Eucalyptus, etc, are used for preparing the bolus bags. Elakizhi can Improve the strength of the muscles, bones, joints and associated body tissues. Generally used in treating conditions like arthritis, paralysis, neuromuscular conditions, herniated disc, sciatica, joint pain etc.
This is another form of bolus bag massage in which powdered herbal roots are used. Ingredients like, Dry Ginger, Castor Root (Ricinus Communis) Musta (Cyperus Rotundus) Cedar Wood (Cedrus Deodara), Mustard Seeds, Calamus (Accorus Calamus), Dill Seeds (Anethum Sowa), Rasna (Alpenia Galanga) etc are generally used for making powder used in Podikizhi. Bolus basis prepared from this powder and are used to massage the body after heated with suitable oil. This procedure is also useful in treating Arthritis, Degenerative conditions, neuromuscular conditions, Muscle weakness, etc.
Njavara Kizhi is one of the most popular therapies used for the purpose of rejuvenation. A special type of rice called, Njavara, is used in this treatment. Njavara rice is cooked with milk and bala decoction (Sida cordifolia) and then made into a bolus bag which is then dipped in a warm mixture of Milk and Bala decoction before being applied to the body. During the massage process, the herbal rice slowly comes out and get applied all over the body. This massage helps to nourish body tissues and heal all damages. Njavara Kizhi can be used in treating conditions which affect nerves, muscles, bones and other soft tissues. Because of the nourishing property of Navarra Rice this treatment is widely used in rejuvenation therapies.
Udhwarthanam is a kind of dry massage performed with herbal powders used for reducing Kapha and fat from the body. Specially prepared herbal powders are rubbed on the body in a rhythmic manner in 7 body postures. This treatment is extensively useful in treating cellulite and obesity. Pizhichil is another rejuvenation therapy used against Vata aggravated conditions. Warm herbal oils are poured all over the body in a rhythmic fashion followed by a gentle massage. Kalari Marma Massage is a specialized treatment developed by Kalari (Martial Art) people and is mainly used to protect the Marma points and its energy flow. This massage can improve body flexibility and strength, useful for people indulging in more physical activities.
This massage is helping in balancing the energy flow between the Marma points and protects the body from wear and tear, so this Marma massage is more useful for those people involving in sports.
Kadivasti is a treatment performed on the lower back, mainly for back pain resulting from Herniated disc and Sciatica. Warm medicated oil is retailed on the lower back with the help of a dough ring fixed on the affected area. The warmth of the oil inside ring is maintained throughout the treatment. A gentle massage is performed after the treatment to heat and oil properly over the lower back.
Geva Vasti is a treatment procedure similar to Kadivasti but performed over the cervical area. This treatment is useful in conditions like neck pain, stiffness and discomfort usually associated with cervical spondylosis.
Janu Vasti is another treatment similar to Kadi vasti performed over the knee joint for arthritis and other degenerative conditions affecting the knee joint. This treatment helps reduce stiffness and pain over the knee joint and helps restore mobility faster.
Urovasti is the treatment performed over the chest for relieving chest congestion. Specially formulated Ayurvedic oils are retailed over the chest with the help of a dough ring for a specific period of time. This treatment is useful in cough and cold, asthma and weakness of chest.
Chavitti Uzhichil this massage is adapted from Kalari (Martial Art) for protecting and balancing the Marma energy flow. The whole massage procedure is performed with feet with the support of a rope attached to the ceiling. It’s a deep acting massage useful for revitalizing the body tissues.
